CAE Webinar – Tuesday 8th November 2022 @ 8.00PM

Dr Sandra Baxendale, a leading goat vet from Australia will be talking to us about CAE. We have asked Sandra to talk about the spread of CAE, the different routes of transmission, testing strategies and methods of eradication.

Sandra graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia as the Dux of her year and with a University medal.  She went on to do her PhD, using goats as her experimental animal.  She did this while running a commercial goat dairy and selling goat milk.  This was in the late 1970s and when the cause of CAE was identified, she tested her herd which was over 80% positive.  Sandra then eradicated it using the 2 herd system and snatch birthing kids.  After working in government, academia and the fibre goat industry, for the last 10 years she has worked in her own practice as a goat only veterinarian.  She has a special interest in CAE and has a Facebook page dedicated to its eradication – https://www.facebook.com/EradicateCAEinGoats .

As previously, webinars are free to attend for all members of the British Goat Society.  Members must email the office and request a link to be able to join the webinar.

Members are asked not to share the link with non-members as the speakers have agreed to participate without reimbursement for their time on the basis that they are for members only.
