RVC Research Survey for Goatkeepers

I am a 4th year veterinary student at the Royal Veterinary College, currently completing a research project alongside the RVC on goat farming in the UK.

The project aims to investigate the different methods used for adult goat and kid goat dispatch, reasons they are chosen, and stock people’s attitudes towards them. Data from this investigation will establish where the industry currently stands on managing surplus and cull stock, as well as the impacts this has on the stock people regarding their job fulfilment. Crucially the information can be used to explore how this can be improved for the welfare of both animal and farmer.

We are looking for responses from stock people who have performed on-farm dispatching in the past 5 years. This online questionnaire will be open until the 21st October 2024.

We would greatly appreciate you disseminating this survey to clientele, or for advice on who to reach out to. Any participation is very helpful to the project and will help ensure the data collected is as representative as it can be. Please see the link below for further information and access.
